Josh Brew is a Ghanaian-born researcher and performer dedicated to exploring music’s imbrication with digital technology and sustainability.
Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow in the Digital Technology for Democracy Lab at the University of Virginia (UVA) and a former fellow at the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African American and African Studies.
As an Andrew Mellon fellow, Josh completed his PhD in Music and secondary field in African & African American Studies (2026) at the University of Pittsburgh, where he examined how global Black musics and sonic practices generate alternative theories about the humanities, ecology, and the future of technological society.
